Cotes CRT6000G adsorption dehumidifier provides big improvements in the overall efficiency of a foam processing set-up.

Humidity management makes drying foam rubber more efficient
Dato: 21-10-09

A major European manufacturer of foam rubber was able to make its production processes much more efficient by installing Cotes dehumidification equipment. This made it possible to significantly reduce the drying period for newly produced foam.

This in turn enabled the company to get rid of production bottlenecks that were inhibiting efficiency, as well as improving the quality of the company’s end product.

Production bottlenecks
A major European foam rubber manufacturer was encountering severe bottlenecks in its production. Once made, the blocks of foam rubber had to be dried in special drying rooms. This involved the blocks being vacuumed, then heated to produce the finished product needed for subsequent processing. This took a considerable time and was creating production bottlenecks that were a problem for the company.

Installing an adsorption dehumidification system from Cotes in the drying rooms proved to be the answer.

Making drying more efficient
Cotes adsorption dehumidifiers were installed as part of a turnkey project that included timer control, air distribution fans and ductwork. Effective management of levels of humidity means the company is able to load and dry the blocks of foam rubber much faster and more effectively. This removes one of the key bottlenecks in the production process, and paves the way for subsequent processing of the foam rubber to be carried out with less waste, and resulting in a better finished product.

Effective collaboration
As the works engineer enthused, "Throughout the project – from inception, design and specification to installation and commissioning – we worked closely with HB Sorption Wheel Services, drawing on their knowledge to successfully deliver this project on time, and meeting our process requirements."

This installation was carried out in collaboration with HB Sorption Wheel Services in the UK.
