Cotes Mobile Wind

CR80B-FC/FCS

Mobile adsorption dehumidifier for wind turbines

The CR80B-FC / CR80B-FCS is part of the Cotes Mobile Wind product family — portable adsorption dehumidifiers specifically adapted for onshore wind turbine applications.

The unit is designed for retrofit installation inside wind turbine towers (WTG towers), where humidity, condensation, and airborne contamination present long-term operational risks.

The CR80B-FC / FCS enables controlled dry-air supply without structural modification of the turbine and supports both targeted cabinet protection and general tower humidity stabilisation.

Explanation of Naming

The product designation follows established Cotes naming logic:

  • C – Cotes adsorption platform
  • R – Rotor-based adsorption technology
  • 80 – Capacity class
  • B – Building heritage (from the original Mobile range)
  • FC / FCS – Filter Cassette configuration

FC = Filter Cassette
FCS = Filter Cassette System (enhanced filtration configuration)

Both variants share identical drying capacity and electrical characteristics. The difference lies in the filtration configuration, adapted to turbine environmental conditions.

Position within the Cotes Mobile Wind family

Cotes Mobile Wind units are developed for turbines that were not originally designed with integrated dehumidification.

They enable:

  • Retrofit moisture protection
  • Flexible internal placement
  • Protection of electrical cabinets and control panels
  • Stabilisation of internal tower humidity

The CR80B-FC / FCS represents the most compact unit within the Mobile Wind range and is typically used for:

  • Smaller tower volumes
  • Targeted protection strategies
  • Installations where space constraints apply

Unlike offshore-engineered overpressure systems (CWO family), Mobile Wind units are flexible and redeployable.

What is the CR80B-FC / FCS used for in wind turbines?
open close

The unit is typically used to supply dry air inside the WTG tower, reducing condensation risk and protecting electrical cabinets and control systems.

Both variants share the same drying performance.
The difference lies in the filtration configuration:

  • FC provides wind-adapted filter cassette protection.
  • FCS includes an enhanced filter cassette system for environments with higher contamination levels.

The CR80B-FC / FCS is primarily positioned for onshore wind retrofit applications. Offshore installations typically require engineered overpressure systems such as the Cotes Wind Overpressure (CWO) family that creates an overpressure while filtrating salt from the air.

During standstill, ventilation is reduced and condensation can form on internal surfaces with temperature fluctuations. Moisture combined with salt or contaminants increases corrosion risk and may reduce electrical insulation resistance during restart. Controlled humidity reduces this risk.
